ABOUT african wildlife projects
Dries Malan, owner of African Wildlife Projects, has 35 years of experience in the wildlife industry, starting his career in 1976 when he joined the Department of Nature Conservation in Namibia.
During this period he headed the game capture unit and took part in the relocation of black rhino, white rhino, giraffe, elephant and various antelope species.
In 1986 Dries left the government service to start his own business in wildlife consulting.
African Wildlife Projects offers a wide variety of services for the relocation of wildlife species:
- We source and supply wildlife species for relocation
- We determine the most suitable area for relocation, based on the habitat requirements of the species.
- We construct fencing to enclose the established area
- We construct the pre-release holding facilities
- We manufacture tailor-made transport containers (crates) to IATA specifications
- We provide logistics support during translocation
- We manage the pre-release holding of animals in the holding facilities
- We manage the releasing of the animals from the holding facilities
- We provide post-release management
- We provide wildlife management training of staff
- We conduct aerial censuses of wildlife populations
